Poetry in Motion began as a way to share.
My experiences.
My interests.
My thoughts.
I am random at times, but ultimately Poetry in Motion is about hiking.
A tribute.
To all the losses in my life.
Reminding me to enjoy what life has to offer.
Throughout my life I have struggled.
with my weight.
with my emotions.
And I have conquered mountains!
The view at the top is always worth it.
Hiking is one of my favorite things to do.
For about five years continuously (when I was living in Massachusetts),
I had the opportunity to hike every week.
My friend Michelle is my long standing hiking partner.
We have seen truly amazing things together.
Poetry in Motion is a tribute to her.
My husband Nathan and I have had amazing experiences together.
Hiking.
Camping.
Vacationing.
Concert going.
Poetry in Motion is a tribute to him.
Poetry in Motion
is a tribute to all my loved oneswho have ever endured a hike with me.
It truly can’t be easy sometimes.
I hope Poetry in Motion is entertaining.
Perhaps even useful.
... but mostly I hope it inspires others to get out and explore!

Hey Alicen! Love this blog. I'm trying to do a before and after album for certain points along the erie canal, and I came across your blog. The picture that you have from the archives of Lock 19 showing a boat in the lock from the west -- Do you have a link to that original source? I want to find out if I can get permission to reprint the photo, but I can't seem to find it in the archives.
